Dr Debajyoti Chowdhury, a postdoc and Mr Yip Hiu Fung, a PhD student working with Prof Aiping Lyu, attended and presented their research work at the prestigious Americal Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting in 2023 at Orlando, USA (April 14 – 19, 2023). It is one of the World's leading and largest conferences to combat cancer in all aspects.
The duo from our school has developed an explainable artificial intelligence model to typify the chronic inflammatory responses that accelerate glioma prognosis and supports co-drug discovery to modulate inflammatory responses alongside primary cancer therapy. They exhibited their findings at the AACR 2023, entitled, "Redefined chronic inflammatory responses as prognostic markers in glioma: An explainable artificial intelligence model". They showed a strategic co-drug discovery pipeline to modulate those chronic inflammatory responses. It eventually intends to provoke a reimagined therapeutic co-intervention strategy for glioma where the co-drugs may be recommended along with primary chemotherapy to mitigate the unnecessary concurrent chronic inflammatory responses without interfering.
It marked a milestone in amalgamating cutting-edge trans-disciplinary technological advances with Chinese Medicine and their commitment to improving human well-being through sophisticated research. We are delighted to see our scholars excelling in the global congress disseminating scientific rigour. The team's next focus is to explore, scale up and generalize the typification framework with integrated deep biology and omics.
